Thomas L. Erwin was born in 1848 in Alabama, son of _________ and __________. John was married about 1874-1875 ___________, in __________ Co., Texas, to Susan Jeanette Koontz, who was born in June, 1854 in Texas, daughter of Andrew Brown Koontz and Martha Jane Harlow. . In 1880, Tom and Susie were still living in Hopkins Co., Texas, but were soon to move west and resettle in Wise Co., Texas. The obtained a farm in Wise County where they raised their family. . Susan Jeanette (Koontz) Erwin died April 8, 1937, in Precinct 7 of Wise Co., Texas. She was buried April 10, 1937, in Cumby Cemetery a few miles north of Chico, next to her husband who died in 1925. . Thomas L. Erwin and Susan Jeanette [Koontz] Erwin had the following known children: . 1. Mattie Erwin [1877- before 1900] 2. Zora A. Erwin [Jan. 27, 1878-July 17, 1948] m. James Wylie Smith 3.
